Gram Slam
Questions, a number that looks wrong, or a food you'd like to see? Email [email protected].
How to play
Each day you get five foods. Put them in order from the most protein per calorie to the least, then check your order. Green means the right spot, yellow means one spot off, grey means further off. You get three tries.
Where do the numbers come from?
- Everyday foods: USDA FoodData Central (public domain).
- Packaged products: the product's nutrition label, via USDA's branded foods database.
- Restaurant items: each chain's own published nutrition information, checked October 2026.
Every answer links to its source. Menus and recipes change; if a number looks off, email us with the puzzle number and the food.
Why protein per calorie?
It's the quickest way to compare how protein-dense foods are: grams of protein for every 100 calories. The dashed "10 g line" marks the popular rule of thumb: 10 g per 100 calories or better is protein-dense. Each answer also shows protein and calories per serving.
